THE Itinerary

Tokyo, JAPAN

Tokyo, Japan's bustling capital, mixes the ultra-modern and the traditional, from neon-lit skyscrapers to historic temples.

The opulent Shinto Meiji Shrine is known for its towering gate and surrounding forests. The Imperial Palace is located in the middle of large public gardens.

Hiroshima, JAPAN

Hiroshima, a modern city on Japan's Honshu island, was largely destroyed by an atomic bomb during World War II. Today, the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park commemorates the 1945 event.

Kanmon Straits, JAPAN

The Kanmon Strait or Shimonoseki Strait is a marine strait located between the Japanese islands of Honshu and Kyushu, between the cities of Shimonoseki and Kitakyushu.

Busan, KOREA

A sprawling port city in South Korea, is known for its beaches, mountains and temples. Busy Haeundae Beach features the marine life aquarium as well as a folk plaza with traditional games such as tug-of-war, while Gwangalli Beach has plenty of bars and views of the modern Diamond Bridge.

Nagasaki, JAPAN

Nagasaki is a Japanese city on the northwest coast of the island of Kyushu. It is located in a large natural port and is surrounded by hills where buildings sit. The city played a crucial role in one of the key moments of World War II, when it suffered a nuclear attack by the Allied side in August 1945. This event is remembered and commemorated both in the Atomic Bomb Museum and in the Park of peace.

Kagoshima, JAPAN

Most people know Kagoshima because of Sakurajima, which is one of the most active volcanoes in Japan. It never gets boring to watch the ash billowing into the sky in a sudden eruption. And Kagoshima is also well known for the island of Yakushima, found just south of Kagoshima.

Matsuyama, JAPAN

Matsuyama is the capital of Ehime Prefecture, and the largest city on Shikoku Island, with a population of about half a million. Matsuyama's two big attractions are its beautiful castle and the Dogo Onsen hot spring.

Kochi, JAPAN

In addition to top sightseeing destinations and historic sights, Kochi is well known for the informal, folksy appeal of local markets and activities, and rustic food halls. Exploring the Kochi countryside is also a must for seeing some of the most beautiful and natural tourist destinations in Japan.

Kobe, JAPAN

The city is the place of origin of the world famous Kobe beef, and is home to Japan's most famous hot spring resort: Arima Onsen. Most breeds of Japanese Wagyu beef are associated with the area in which the cattle are raised – hence, Kobe beef is the breed of Wagyu from Kobe.

Shimizu, JAPAN

Shimizu Port has a number of attractions but is most famous for being among Japan's most scenic ports thanks to views of Mount Fuji, the highest mountain in Japan, Shimizu Port is generally considered to be one of the three most beautiful ports in Japan, along with the ports of Kobe and Nagasaki.

Tokyo (Yokohama), JAPAN

There's so much to see and do, including beautiful parks and a gorgeous traditional Japanese garden, fantastic museums, and a great choice for shopping and eating.
